Dress to Impress

Whether you're trying to land that elusive job, or that more elusive date, or negotiating a big deal, one of the many things you'll want to consider is the clothing you wear. There is much truth to what some people say about superficiality, that the wrapper doesn't necessarily indicate the contents, and that everyone deserves to be judged on the merits of their performance. Those are good points, and in the academic sense they're valid, but that doesn't change the fact that human beings rely on perceptions.

Wearing Shabby Clothes?

If you are dressed in shabby clothes, or even in new attire that seems inappropriate for the occasion, you may not get much more than a cursory glance. Your fashion sense, like your grooming habits, can make you more appealing to the eye. It gives you a chance to get further along in your endeavors, rather than being shunted away based on nothing more than a bad first impression.

Why Not Look your Best?

If it doesn't take anything more than a classy wardrobe to get doors to open for you - or at least to get that knob to turn - then there is no reason not to look your best. Of course, the emphasis on workplace fashion sense is not universal. Some occupations don't require formal attire, and many blue-collar positions provide uniforms, such as those worn by mechanics or hospital workers. But those are the exceptions that only serve to prove the rule. In any case, you won't find many of those folks wearing their work uniforms out on a date, on the golf course, or much anyplace else!

Perhaps all of this just causes you to shrug. Maybe you don't care. That's a cozy position to fall back on, since those unrealized rewards (and the impact they could have on one's overall existence) may never be fully revealed to those who eschew the importance of appearance. It may sound materialistic, but it's reality nonetheless; something as simple as that could make all the difference in your world.

Wearing cloths that project a certain image your trying to portray is easy, however, its easy to tell when some is dressed in a manner that they usually don't. Accessories are the way most people tell, so remember to pick up good quality accessories, such as bags for women.
